The singer Eric Benét said these type of rappers are doing the work of white supremacists:
"If all you rap about is killing black people, degrading black women, abusing drugs, materialization, living a low life, you are not a artist, you are a black face for white supremacy," he wrote. "You are being used to help destroy your own people."
Of course, rappers have been criticized for their lyrics since Hip Hop began and arguing certain types of rap is bad for the black community is nothing new. But Benet updates that attack by throwing the buzzy phrase "white supremacy" into the mix.
What do you think of what Benet is saying, and who do you think he's talking about?
