Dreamville Boss Hints At Fate Of J. Cole-Kendrick Lamar Project

by HHL Editors

Around Thanksgiving of 2015, we got a couple of hints that J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar were going to drop that much speculated upon joint project. First Cole and Kendrick jumped on each other tracks for "Black Friday" remixes, and Cole made a reference to a February 2016 release in his bars

On that same day, K.Dot's sister briefly posted that a Cole-Kendrick collab would be dropping on February 16. Fan art (like the photo above) ensued.

But February 16th came and went with nothing. Although Lamar did release the surprise (solo) project Untitled Unmastered a couple of weeks after that.

In a new interview with Rap Rader, Dreamville President Ibrahim Hamad addressed why Cole never dropped anything in February.

"You know what? I will say that when even when he said that, you know like, we kinda knew that was a stretch…Cole is Cole and he knows what he’s doing. He has his ways of getting things done and I think that at the end of it all, it’ll be way worth it. Whatever he had planned in February, whatever it is, it’ll be way more worth it if people just like…know that he, he’s kinda like a mad scientist with his thing. He’s like a little mad scientist."
Granted, this quote doesn't reveal much. But at least it acknowledges something was supposed to happen February.

Do you think we will ever see a Kendrick Lamar-J. Cole project?
