The-Dream is dropping two EPs this year, Crown on March 31 and Jewel on June 9
The singer/producer is starting to do promotion for the projects, and dropped by to speak to Charlamagne on The Breakfast Club this morning.
During the interview, The-Dream had some interesting points about the continued melding of rap and his genre of R&B. It's a marriage that's making the 37-year old increasingly uneasy.
"I have a problem when men who are supposed to be R&B artists talk about women in a certain type of way," he said about today's R&B. "You’re supposed to be a cornerstone of the person uplifting love in that sense."He also had words for R&B artists who try to be rappers.
"They wanna be liked by you guys. They wanna be rappers and I think that’s one of the reasons why I’m not concerned with whatever the sales are because I still have to be me. Like I can’t try to compete with what a rap guy would do."It sounds an awful lot like The-Dream is talking about Chris Brown here. (Although he has expressed interesting in forming a super group with Brown in the past.) See the whole interview below.
