Drake didn't drop an album in 2014. But according to Rap Genius's year end roundup, Drizzy was still the most popular player in the rap game.
More of the lyric annotation website's viewers clicked on Drake's artist page than anybody else's in 2014. Eminem, Beyonce, Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar rounded out the top five, in that order.
Beyonce and hubby Jay-Z had the most viewed song of 2014 with 'Drunk In Love,' which was checked out about seven million times. Eminem's 'Rap God' was a hair behind it in second place, and then came Bobby Shmurda's 'Hot Nigga,' with about 3.1 million views.
'Drunk In Love' and 'Rap God were both released in late 2013, and it stands to reason 'Hot Nigga' would have caught or topped them in views if the track, which exploded in July, also had a full year to accumulate eyeballs.
On the other hand, much of the curiosity about the hit may have had less do with overall popularity and more to do with Shmurda's hard-to-decipher lyrics.
