Last week former Degrassi writer and producer James Hurst said that Drake didn't want his character, Jimmy Brooks, to remain in a wheelchair because it looked soft.
"There was a letter from a law firm in Toronto, and it was from Aubrey,” Hurst explained to The AV Club. “It was an odd letter that said, ‘Aubrey Graham will not return to Degrassi Season 6 as Jimmy Brooks unless his injury is healed, and he’s out of the wheelchair.’”
In response to the report, Wheelchair 4 Kids' director Madeline Robinson told TMZ that Drizzy being in that wheelchair helped a lot of children.
"When was the last time you went to a mall and saw a kid in a wheelchair hanging out with other kids?" asked Robinson, to show how tough it can be for kids in wheelchairs to make friends.
According to Robinson, Drake's role gave kids in wheelchairs a lot of confidence in themselves as they were able to see themselves represented on the small screen.
