Dr. Dre Sued By His Former Marriage Counselor For Making Violent Threats

by Daryl Nelson

Dr. Charles Sophy is suing Dr. Dre for $10 million and accused him of threatening his safety.

Sophy used to give marriage counseling to Dre and his ex-wife, Nicole Young, and provided mediation during their divorce.

In court docs, Sophy says Dre accused him of getting someone to bad mouth Dre to the press and began sending him threatening text messages.

Plus, Sophy claims Dre had some of his goons dress up as FBI agents to gain access to his gated neighborhood and then threaten him.

The counselor said he was so scared at this point that he increased his home security and didn't leave the house without a bulletproof vest and cap. He's asking a judge to make Dre stay at least 100 yards away from him.

Dre's lawyer, Howard King, already responded to the suit, saying Dre filed a complaint against Sophy to the Osteopathic Medical Board of California in 2023.

"Dr. Sophy filed his suit only after he failed to pressure Mr. Young into dropping efforts to get Dr. Sophy punished for dereliction of duties and incredible incompetence," said King. "Dr. Sophy inserted himself into a contentious divorce while he simultaneously 'treated' not only Mr. and Mrs. Young but their children."

"He was terminated when it was revealed that he was encouraging one of their children to take sides against Mr. Young, even encouraging his son to go to the press with false allegations in order to force a financial settlement that he recommended."

No word from Dre on this yet. You can see those text messages above.
