by Daryl Nelson

Doja Cat found herself in a nice sized controversy when she was accused of being in a racist incel chatroom and making racist jokes. The hashtag #canceldojacat began trending afterward.

The rapper, who has a black South African father and white American mother, apologized for being in the chatroom and using the N-word but denied she was speaking to white supremacists or making racists jokes.

Doja defended the other people in the chatroom Wednesday on Instagram Live and said she's tired of being bullied over the scandal.

Doja Cat responds to people calling her a white supremacist on Instagram Live:

“My friends aren’t racist on chat rooms. My friends on Tinychat aren’t white supremacists...and you won’t find anything on them because you’re stupid!” pic.twitter.com/pvHWp5kzik

“I just realized how f*cking stupid that narrative is. I just realized that. The things, the verbal harassment, the physical harassment, that I could go through being in a crowd of white supremacists, who you think I’m so good friends with. It’s f*cking ridiculous. My friends aren’t f*cking racist on chatrooms. My friends on Tiny Chat are not f*cking supremacists. They love me, I love them. They’re loving, and that’s it. And you won’t find anything on them because you’re f*cking stupid. Your actions are stupid. You may not be stupid, you may be smart. But your actions are not telling. It just is what it is. You guys are f*cking disappointing. This isn’t how you combat problems. And if you think it is, then you need to grow the f*ck up, and I’m sorry. I’m sorry that you suck right now.”

"Anybody who doesn't have time for that sh*t, anybody who actually cares about themselves isn't going to spend time on my platform trying to destroy my self image," said Doja "You're trying to make me feel worse. If I was already feeling like sh*t about myself, you're trying to make me feel worse about how I look. You're taking my features and you're sh*tting on them. Which are what features? Exactly. I have black hair, I have black skin, I have black features and you're sh*tting on them."

"You won't find anything of me being racist because I haven't been racist and I'm well aware that I'm recorded in chat rooms," she added. "But I just wanted you guys to know, for my fans, if you felt disappointed or embarrassed, I'm sorry. It took me a while to understand what the f*ck was going on. There's young fans who look at me like, 'Oh, if she's saying this word then maybe I should be saying it, too.' No. No. You should not be saying that word, period. And that's what I'm sorry for."

Are people being too hard on Doja?
