Prosecutors had wanted to DMX to get the maximum five years in prison for the one count of tax evasion he pleaded guilty to late last year. But US District Judge Jed Rakoff went easy and only gave him 12 months.
Before taking a plea, X had been facing 14 counts and 40 years in prison. So it all could have been a lot worse.
During the sentencing hearing, X's attorney, Murray Richman, played X's music video for "Slippin'" to show the judge how difficult DMX's life has been.
DMX has gone to jail numerous times for crimes from drug possession to reckless driving to not paying child support.
This is the 47-year old's longest sentence yet.
The IRS is gonna to give it to ya.
