DMX Didn't Relapse, Checked In To Rehab To Avoid It

Fresh off re-signing with Def Jam, DMX had to cancel his appearance at Def Jam's 35th-anniversary show last week. 

Shortly after, we found out why he canceled...he was back in rehab.

Today, we found out it wasn't because of drug use, but a preventive measure to avoid X from relapsing. 

According to TMZ, one of X's kids is very sick, in and out of the hospital, and the stress of that mixed with the pressure of performing again made him feel tempted to use.

A relapse could jeopardize his freedom, which would ultimately take him away from seeing his family and providing for them.

In his ongoing commitment to putting family and sobriety first, DMX has checked himself into a rehab facility. He apologizes for his cancelled shows and thanks his fans for their continued support.
