DJ Khaled Updates HIs Beef With Tyler, The Creator

by HHL JT

In 2019, DJ Kahled acted the sore loser when Tyler, The Creator's IGOR beat his Father of Asahd on the album chart.

"I make albums so people can play it and you actually hear it," Khaled said at the time. "You know, driving your car you hear another car play it, go to the barbershop, you can hear them play it ... it's playing everywhere. It's called great music. It's called albums that you actually hear the songs. Not no mysterious sh*t and you never hear it. "

In 2021, after another Tyler album -- Call Me If You Get Lost -- went number one, Tyler spoke on Khaled.

"For some guy like that, to indirectly be like 'that ain't real rap, that ain't real Black music.'  That's what it felt like.  And I'm like "my n*gga" ... but I didn't say anything. I just let that number one speak.  And his ego had to deal with it because his whole identity is being number one.  And when he didn't get that, it sat with him longer in the moment..  I moved on.  I did some shows.  I didn't think about it.  That sat with him because his whole identity is 'we the best', 'we the number one.' And the underdog, to him, took that away from him?  The ego was deflated. He'll probably never admit it," Tyler said, and added he has no hard feelings toward Khaled.

In the latest Rolling Stone, Khaled addresses his relationship with Tyler.

"He also tells me he’d like to work with Tems and, surprisingly, Tyler, the Creator, with whom he says he has a good rapport, despite a social media tussle when Father of Asahd was beaten out by Tyler’s Igor on the charts in 2019. (He says they chopped it up at Jay-Z’s Roc Nation brunch earlier this year.)"
