There was some scoffing when Diddy declared he wanted to buy the Carolina Panthers.
Puff's rich, but he's not that rich.
But it looks like he might just slide into Panther ownership alongside Steph Curry and more as minority owners.
"Rapper and mogul Sean "Diddy'' Combs and Golden State Warriors All-Star Stephen Curry are among a strong, diverse group that e-commerce billionaire Michael Rubin is putting together as potential minority owners in his effort to purchase the Carolina Panthers," a source told ESPN.com on Tuesday.
Rubin, who is the co-owner of the Philadelphia 76ers and the New Jersey Devils, is one of three groups bidding on the Panthers.
Forbes has valued the Panthers at $2.3 billion, but the final bid could come in lower than that. The ownership group would then have to put 30 percent of the money down.
The percentage Diddy and Curry would own if Rubin ends up prevailing hasn't been disclosed. Puff is worth an estimated $820 million and Curry about $50 million.
When discussing buying the Panthers last year, Diddy said he would sign Colin Kaepernick and improve the team's halftime show.
I would like to buy the @Panthers. Spread the word. Retweet!
