Desiinger Breaks Down Why He Left Kanye West & G.O.O.D. Music

There was a minute or two when it looked like Desiigner was the next big thing.

"Panda" was a megahit for the-then teenager and on the strength of the single he signed to Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music.

But things didn't go well at the label and Desiigner began to publically ask off, eventually getting his wish.

In an interview with VladTV, he explained what went wrong with Kanye and company.

“The reason why I left Ye was, is cause I was going through a little mental thing,” Desiigner told Vlad. “I was just coming up out of high school, my pops just went into a coma. While I was on tour ... I was having a great time but I just knew something at home was happening with my mom and my pops' health and shit, like. So it was just like, I wanted Ye to talk to and it was hard to speak on it. So I wound up just like, I don’t know man, I was just going through it. I had like a young emotional stage at that time, but I was having so much fun, bro. I got the music.  So, word up," he said.  “I couldn’t express myself, what was going on at the crib to my label mates. So maybe I shouldn’t have brung my emotion in the game. But it was just something like, I was young, I never was taught not to keep your emotions out the game. Because I was coming from a place where not too many people made it bro, you feel. All we got is emotion in the hood. Like, we driving off emotion, like, situations occur ’cause just emotions out there.  I'm just so used to that."

He said something a little different during an interview in 2020.

"I was happy and sh*t, but then it was kind of weird with certain things like I hear with my team.  Even with certain records I put out, I hear certain criticisms, sometimes, sounding like Future, I didn't want to be around that.  That was in the beginning. And I didn't really get to speak much with Kanye, and then he ended up going the Christian route and the Trump route.  And I'm just like, I got to get my situation right ...  I felt like I had to do me.  I had to get comfortable."
