A lot of folks started to believe that J. Cole was trying to make it into the NBA after a commercial for his new Puma RS-Dreamer basketball shoe was released last week.
That theory seemed to spread even more after Master P — who played in a few NBA preseason games with the Charlotte Hornets and Toronto Raptors — said the North Carolina spitter was training for an NBA tryout.
The Detroit Pistons have already sent a message to Cole and invited him to tryout, which the rapper hasn't responded to yet.
It seems that all of this talk of Cole wanting to play in the league has inspired 32-year old Dave East to do the same thing. East, who is listed at 6'5" played AAU ball with Kevin Durant and played for the University of Richmond and Towson University before being a signed rapper.
"If J. Cole go to the NBA, I'm getting back into this sh*t IMMEDIATELY..." @DaveEast says he's going back to basketball if hears 'the Chicago Bulls just picked up Jermaine Cole.' 😂

"I'ma tell y'all right now on here today and this is my word," said East on Complex's Load Management podcast. "If J. Cole go to the NBA, I'm getting back into this sh*t immediately ... I'm not knockin.' I'm sure he probably dead nice but if that's a rumor and then we wake up and they like, 'the Chicago Bulls picked up Jermaine Cole,' I'ma get in the gym that day."
What are your thoughts about all of this NBA talk among rappers lately?
