DaBaby Signs To Interscope

by HHL JT

North Carolina rapper DaBaby, who also goes by Baby Jesus, has signed with Interscope Records as part of a joint venture with South Coast Music Group, the indie label that he was previously signed to.

"Interscope told me to keep doing me, don't change nothin'," DaBaby tells XXL. "I feel right at home. Now it's time to make this house the biggest crib in the MF neighborhood."

DaBaby dropped the mixtape Blank Blank in November.

Perhaps he's known best for an incident that happened a few days later. Baby was involved in an altercation in a Huntersville, North Carolina Walmart that left one man dead.

Early reports had DaBaby as the triggerman. He initially denied it. But before long he more or less admitted to shooting 19-year-old Jalyn Domonique Craig dead. According to DaBaby, Craig and another armed man tried to rob him and his family as they shopped.

Given that DaBaby is signing record deals rather than awaiting trial, it would seem his story of self-defense holds up.
