These days there are a lot of rap fans who say they don't care about good lyrics.
Apparently, the number of Instagram followers a rapper has and the shiny items he or she posts is enough for some people to call them amazing artists.
But plenty of folks still care about rappers creating hot verses, which is why Cordae has been so successful.
Like many of the rappers from yesteryear, the 24-year-old seems to focus on delivering quality lyrics, which was displayed on his Grammy nominated-album The Lost Boy.
On Tuesday, November 30, Cordae hosted a virtual listening session for his new LP, From A Birds Eye View, where he has a song with Nas. Cordae called the rap legend one of his all-time favorites during an interview with HipHopDx and explained what mindset he used while working with him.
“It really wasn’t a psych myself up situation but more so holding myself to a standard," Cordae explained. "I try to give my best no matter who I’m on the song with. If I’m on a song you never heard of or on a song with a Nas or a Drake, I try to always give them the same amount of effort. But I’d be lying to you if I wasn’t on a cloud ... On the outro of the album, I said ‘I just bought a Range Rover and did a song with Nas.’ That’s one of my bucket list things so I was very happy with that. But it was super dope, super tight.”
Are you amped for Cordae's new LP? It's slated to drop in early 2022.
