During his interview with VladTV, Charlamagne was asked about interviewing Gucci Mane on his non-Breakfast Club show and allowing him to call his long-time Breakfast Club co-host Angela Yee a bitch.
"It wasn't a good effect," he said about the Gucci inteview. "I can see why Angela Yee would feel that way. For me, as a radio personality, I don't feel responsible for something somebody said in an interview. Gucci said that. That's the way he felt. Because he was responding to something Angela said on the radio. I'm like 'Damn, that's f*cked up' but Gucci has a right to feel that way' ... but then, the nuance is that me and Angela Yee have worked together for almost ten years. If me and Angela Yee weren't on the best on of terms, I can see why she could feel that I wasn't her friend. I'm glad you asked me that questions. I literally just apologized to Angela Yee for that. Like yesterday. We hadn't been in the studio since March because of the whole pandemic. I think pandemic made us all do is sit down and reflect. For me, working with Angela and [DJ] Envy for almost ten years I have genuine love for them. Because he built something historic.
CTG went on to say another reason he didn't apologize earlier was because of ego.
