Chance The Rapper said his newborn nephew made him take a sabbatical to study the bible.
His brother Taylor recently fathered a son, and Chance said because the child is "the first boy of the next line," he wanted to learn more about God and delve further into his spirituality.
"I'm on a plane headed out the country on my first sabbatical," wrote Chance, who recently shared two new songs, "The Man Who Has Everything" and "My Own Thing." "I'm going away to learn the Word of God, which I am admittedly very unfamiliar with. I've been brought up by my family to know Christ, but haven't taken it upon myself to really just take a couple days and ready my Bible."
"I'm definitely guilty of not devoting time to it," he added. "So I'm off to read and learn, because the next generation of Bennett is here, and I need to be able to give my nephew Charlie Matthew the knowledge and tools to fuck y'all up ... So don't bother me. I'll be back soon enough, with five or more books from Bible read. Oh yeah and cigarette free."
Chance's sabbatical comes at a time when he was also selected as one of the judges on Netflix's new rap competition show, so he clearly has a lot going on. What do you think about his message?
