Lately, it's been one with a "3" on the front.
He explained why the hat and why the 3 in an interview with Katie Couric.
"I feel like I have a weird head shape," Chance conceded when Couric asked about the snap back. "I can't. There's only brain underneath here," he joked when she asked him to remove his lid. "I don't take this hat off at all, ever. I sleep in this hat. I take showers and baths in this hat. It doesn't come off at all."Later in the chat, he explained what's going on with the 3. It turns out he rocks it because his hometown Chicago White Sox didn't pay him.
"I wore a Sox hat everywhere," he said. "When I was making my cover for 'Coloring Book', I had a Sox hat on. And I was like, 'man, these Sox dudes never finished that deal for me. Take off the Sox cap. Then I was like, oh, this is my third project."Since then, the 3 has morphed into something with even more meaning.
"It grow to be a bunch of different things. The three pronged family of me, my daughter and her mother ... The Holy Trinty, and, now, I'm a three time Grammy winner."
