In 2007, Cam'ron made himself the poster boy for the stop-snitching movement by getting on 60 Minutes and saying he wouldn't talk to the police because getting labeled a snitch could hurt his record sales.
He later called his statement an "error in judgement." But Killa Cam was toeing the no-snitching line again last night on The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore. In a discusion that involved Newark mayor Ras Baraka and comedian Chris Distefano, Cam forwarded another reason for why you shouldn't talk to the police.
"Just because you snitch that doesn't mean they’re gonna get convicted," Cam said. "Now you’re snitching on somebody who has to go through a court process, go through trial, go through et cetera et cetera and then comes back out on the street and looks at you, like, 'That was you who told on me.'"Baraka then tried to draw a distinction between ratting on your co-conspirators in crime -- which he called snitching -- and talking to the police about a crime that you were a victim of, or had nothing to do with but witnessed. The mayor argued the latter cases should not be thought of as snitching. Cam didn't seem to agree, as you can see in the video below.
