C-Murder is serving a life sentence for the beating and fatal shooting of 16-year-old fan Steve Thomas.
The incident happened in 2002, after a brawl outside of a nightclub in Harvey, Louisiana.
In 2013, C-Murder was also found liable for the killing in a civil proceeding. Earlier this week, he was ordered to pay $500,000 to each of Thomas' parents and another $150,000 to account for the victim's suffering.
“For my clients, it’s been a 15-year odyssey,” Thomas's parent's attorney Trey Mustian said after the ruling. “They’ve been through a great deal, and it means a lot to us to bring some closure to this.” “I think it's more a vindication of their son than any potential monetary award. They wanted to see it through for their son.”C-Murder has maintained he's innocent of the crime, and his famous brothers, Master P and Silkk the Shocker, have been working on freeing him for years.
Now if they are successful, C-Murder will still owe over $1.1 million when he gets out.
As it stands, it puts a damper on Murder trying to profit from any of the music (four albums so far) he's been releasing from behind bars.
