Bobby Shmurda may still be locked up, but his influence is still heavy in the NY streets.
The "Brooklyn Drill" sound has evolved ever since Shmurda's arrest and artists like Pop Smoke, Fivio Foreign, Sheff G & 22Gz have helped.
Rapper Fivio spoke to Ebro on Beats1 where he broke down his new deal with Columbia Records and what his future holds. Ebro then asked him Fivio about the GS9 crew and he actually had some interesting news about Shmurda he gleaned from talking to his GS9 bro Rowdy Rebel in prison.
"I spoke to Rebel on the phone. He said two weeks he got some fire coming out. He goin' crazy. And he's dropping a mixtape."
Ebro seemed confused over who was dropping the tape, so Fivio clarified.
"Bobby! He droppin' a mixtape from jail. Facts, nobody knew that."
It looks like we have a new Bobby Shmurda mixtape coming...and he is set to be released from jail on December 11, 2020.
