When it comes to album charts and mainstream rap, the south has been on top for many years.
Of course, that was after East and West coast Hip Hop dominated.
But according to what Birdman said on The 85 South Show, the south will never give up its top position and it'll reign forever.
“You’ll have a hit in the south and it takes a long time to hit in the east and the west," explained Birdman, who recently said he's putting up $100 million for a Hot Boys reunion tour.
"But once they caught on to us like it is now, I don’t think they’ll ever get it back," he continued. "We here forever, 'cause they had it forever, like the East and the West, they had it forever … Ain’t nothing but love for the East and the West but us southern n*ggas, we ain’t never letting that go."
Birdman also credited Jermaine Dupri for putting southern rap on the national map. Do you agree with his opinion that Southern rap will reign forever, or is that up to music fans?
