When it was revealed last year that Benny The Butcher was no longer independent and signed to Def Jam, some said it was the wrong move, because the label would change his sound.
Benny eventually answered those critics and said he still has free reign to make the kind of music he wants.
On Wednesday, June 22, AllHipHop published a new interview on its site where the Burden of Proof creator explained why he went the major label route instead of grinding things out with Griselda or another indie outfit.
“I did all this sh*t independent, and I just did the deal with Def Jam just because it made sense,” he explained. “I’m trying to take this sh*t to another level, and that’s a part of this sh*t. You know, a n*ggas hustling."
Would you say Benny signing to Def Jam was the right move?
