We have heard about people being detained for some pretty crazy stuff, but this one may take the cake.
A Bay Area man was detained by BART police for eating a sandwich on the platform at the Pleasant Hill station, and he isn't too happy about it.
According to Steve Foster, he was waiting for his train, eating his breakfast, when Officer McCormick approached him and let him know he was being detained for eating, which supposedly breaks a California law.
"I was just up there eating my sandwich waiting for the train to come."
Apparently, Officer McCormick walked by numerous people eating and targeted Foster, who is a black male.
BART says state law prohibits people from eating or drinking in the paid portions of the station.
According to BART, Foster was not arrested. He was cited for eating, which is a violation of state law. He was lawfully handcuffed after refusing to provide his name multiple times. Once he provided his name, he was cited and released.
Peep the clip below.
