Up-and-coming Baton Rouge rapper Da Real Gee Money [real name Garrett Burton] was shot and killed early Sunday morning.
As of now, there are no suspects or motives in the 22-year olds killing.
Gee Money was big on the local scene and was just starting to get some national attention when his life was cut short.
Baton Rouge activist Arthur "Silky Slim" Reed spoke on the late spitter in an interview with The Advocate.
"Rapping was his heart," Reed said. "Rapping was definitely his love. It's sad to see such a young, vibrant individual's (life) cut so short," he continued. "I'm just praying for his family, and, that his life will save someone else's life that's on the same track."Earlier this year, Baton Rouge born rapper Boosie Badazz advised up-and-coming B.R. spitter NBA YoungBoy that he should get out of town so he could avoid its violence.
Gee Money likely didn't have that luxury. RIP.
