Things went south in North Carolina last week...
Barney Harris, a teacher and basketball coach at Union Academy Charter School in Monroe, North Carolina, was shot and killed in what police are calling a "western shoot-out" between rival Mexican drug cartels.
On April 8, the cops got multiple calls reporting shots fired at a mobile home. On arrival, they found Harris dead, and 18-year-old Alonzo Beltran Lara shot, but alive. Lara would later die at the hospital.
Over the weekend, Harris' brother-in-law, Steven Alexander Stewart Jr was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and first-degree burglary.
The cops say this is part of a rival Mexican drug cartel war.
“When we are dealing with the Mexican drug cartels, somebody’s probably going to die as a result of this right here somewhere else. And we did not want to put it out there until we could get good grips on what we had going on here."
