Dreamville artist Bas recently sat down for an interview with No Jumper and talked about conscious rap compared to street rap.
In Bas' mind, Kodak Black and NBA Youngboy are conscious rappers because of their lyrics.
“I mean Kodak [Black] to me is a conscious rapper," Bas said about the Florida artist, who recently appeared on Vanilla Ice's new song "All the Way In." "He’s a street rapper but he got songs where you, like, ‘Damn like I feel exactly where he’s coming from.’ I feel his struggles [like] NBA Young Boy. "
"Yeah, they’re considered street rappers [but] those dudes are conscious as hell if you’re listening to some of the, like, the pain they’re putting in their records," he added. "Like I never been through what they’ve been through ... So I’m getting it through them I’m learning that through them.”
Do you agree with Bas' point about Kodak Black and NBA Youngboy?
