An old video of Russ blaming the producers of today for the decline in Hip Hop has landed him in hot water.
"People think you blame the rappers for the state of Hip Hop. Rappers are not making the music. Producers are making wack shit. If all I do is rap then I'm a vocalist. And if a producer sends me a pack of 20 beats and they're all wack and all the same, I'm just fucked I have to pick the best of the worst," Russ explained in a Vlad TV video from early 2017.
Metro Boomin was the first young producer to respond, calling Russ wack.
Now Young Metro's fellow beat makers have weighed in.
Fucking Russ idiot

Lol Russ is a joke. What he said might actually be offensive if he didn't make rap for people who are scared of rap 😂

I'm not a hater towards @russdiemon music or his success im impressed in some ways... But the corny fact about him always voicing his weak ass opinion, he has a negative corny "know it all, I'm perfect but everyone else sucks and Hiphop is ruined" head ass, just shut the fuck up

Russ tried to explain himself.
Lemme address this 2016 interview since y’all gettin emotional...I was referring to the monotony in production...95% of the beats in rap sound the same and 95% of rappers do the same shit over them as every other rapper...If that doesn’t apply to you then I wasn’t talkin bout u

Shoutout the 🔥 producers tho. Lotta dope ones.

Can Russ survive this, or is he so in his own lane (he's often his own producer) it doesn't matter?
[Update: Russ's response? A rather stupid-nice song and visual, "Sore Losers":
