Billboard thinks Lil Uzi Vert is going places, labeling the 22-year old an artist to watch in 2017.
The accompanying article reveals some interesting details about the Philly rapper, including that he grew up on rock music, and that he lists shock rocker Marilyn Manson as his greatest inspiration.
He also gets a nice co-sign from another one of his other idols in the write up.
"His style, his approach and his voice: I don't think I've heard somebody as raspy since [Lil] Wayne," says ASAP Rocky, one of Uzi's idols. "I don't like to categorize Uzi with any other artists in his class," says DJ Drama, the hip-hop gatekeeper who helped foster Wayne's and T.I.'s careers. "I just think time will tell. You got to give these kids a chance to grow."Drama was among those who spoke out during the controversy over where Vert is signed, assuring the world that the 'Money Longer' rapper was still on Don Cannon’s label Generation Now, and not on Taylor Gang -- as Vert and Wiz Khalifa had suggested.
