Rocky addressed the blow back this morning during an interview with The Breakfast Club.
"I feel like the whole interview [which was from 2015] was taken out of context. I feel terrible as a black man and as an American," he said. It's because you do these interviews with European reporters who want to make a name for themselves and they take things out of context. Most people who read that interview only read that section."Rocky went on to say he wants "to promote" peace, but that he doesn't feel like he's equipped to be the guy who speaks on social issues, and wonders why he's asked about them when artist like Drake and Young Thug aren't.
He added that he does think there's injustice and racism around him, and will try to better articulate his feelings on it going forward.
Still, he doesn't seem like he's fully down with the BLM orthodoxy.
"How come black lives only matter when a police officer takes them? It should matter when a black life takes one. It should always matter. All lives matter," he argues.Check out the interview.
