A lot of people wanted to sign A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, including some pretty big names in hip-hop. At least that's what the rapper said during an interview with Montreality.
"Diddy reached out, Khaled reached out, a lot of people reached out as a matter of fact," A Boogie, who Highbridge The Label and Atlantic Records, explained. "I think the only person that hasn't reached out to try to sign me, when everybody was looking to sign me, was probably JAY-Z. [He] was the only person that I ain't hear from. I didn't feel no type of way but I felt like, 'Damn,' because I always dreamed about something like that. For me, that was just one of my goals but after a while I had to wake up and realize, 'Damn, I could become bigger than that.' I could follow his footsteps and be big as him. I could do it a whole different way and be as big as him."What do you think today's young rappers have to do to be as large as Jigga one day? Plus, can they still achieve what Jay has musically without being as lyrical?
Boogie is dropping his debut album, The Bigger Artist, on September 29th.
