Earlier today, A$AP Rocky was found guilty of assault in a Swedish street fight.
Since the judges couldn't determine whether Rocky beat Mustafa Jafari with a bottle, they rejected the prosecution request for six months in prison. Instead, Rocky was sentenced to the one month he had already served in a Stockholm jail cell.
Rocky had been allowed to go home two weeks ago when the verdict was delayed. He won't have to return to Sweden, but he will have to pay Jafari $1300 and cover the cost of Jafari's legal representation.
This afternoon, A$AP commented on the verdict.
"I AM OF COURSE DISAPPOINTED BY TODAY’S VERDICT," Rocky writes. "I WANT TO SAY THANKS AGAIN TO ALL OF MY FANS, FRIENDS, AND EVERYONE WHO SHOWED ME LOVE DURING THIS DIFFICULT TIME. IMMA KEEP MOVING FORWARD. THANK YOU TO MY TEAM, MY MANAGEMENT, ATTORNEYS, LABEL AND EVERYONE WHO ADVOCATED FOR JUSTICE.
His lawyer Slobodan Jovicic also weighed in.
"The court has recognised that Rocky and his party were followed and harassed, that no bottle was used, that Rocky didn't act in a joined attack with the others and that Rocky didn't inflict any wounds on the victim and that is a win," Jovicic told the BBC.
"But the court has also concluded that Rocky didn't act in self-defence. It's a conclusion that Rocky and I don't agree with."
Jovicic added that they haven't yet decided if they will appeal the decision.
