50 Cent talked about his BMF series at the Television Critics Association's Summer Press Tour on Thursday, August 19. During the conversation, he explained why the show doesn't glorify drugs or street life.

The series is based on Detroit's Black Mafia Family, who ran a multimillion-dollar drug organization until their 2005 arrest.

“There’s a huge separation between entertainment and reality,” 50 explained. “People who don’t differentiate between the two should be in a mental institution because they can’t separate their reality from what they’re watching. When you watch 'Forensic Files,' does it make you feel like you should go kill somebody? You don’t do that ... I understand some people misinterpret things or say, ‘Look, this is another successful drug dealer.’ All of my shows are drug dealer shows.”

Would you say shows like BMF and Power glorify being a drug dealer and street life? BMF premieres on Sunday, September 26 on Starz.
