21 Savage Speaks On Getting Mocked For His English Accent

All of those memes that popped up after the startling discovery that 21 Savage was from Merry Olde England wasn't the first time 21 was made fun of for being British.

When Savage arrived in Atlanta from London as a seven-year-old he didn't sound like the other kids in his elementary school class.

"I had a accent, ’cause my first day of school they was making fun of me so I beat somebody up, and they was calling me ‘taekwondo kid.' My mama whupped me, she made me stay in the house. So I know I had a accent, but I been here 20 years — I don’t know what happened to it," Savage told The New York Times. 

In the same interview, he acknowledged that some of those aforementioned memes were pretty funny. Although Offset, Wale, and others didn't see the humor.
