The day we learned the shocking news that 21 Savage is a British national was a banner day for memes.

However, all of the jokes about Savage's quill game rubbed some folks the wrong way.

In fact, it sparked an intense and entertaining confrontation between the pro-meme Chris Brown and the anti-meme Offset.

In an interview with The New York Times, Savage -- who was freed from an ICE detention center last week -- addressed the memes.

"Some of them was funny - I ain’t gonna lie. I was appreciative of that. I coulda been another person who just, 'He locked up? Damn,' and nobody said nothing," said the Atlanta resident born Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph. "Some people, I see why they was mad. It ain’t about the meme, it’s about the bigger picture."

Savage added, "But I done been through way worse things in my life than somebody putting me on a meme. I been shot - what is a meme? A meme is nothing."

Seems like a healthy attitude.
