2 Live Crew's Fresh Kid Ice Has Died

by HHL Editors

2 Live Crew's Fresh Kid Ice had died at the age of 53 in Miami.

Ice -- Chris Wong Won -- was a founding member of the controversial group and the first prominent rapper of Asian descent. (His family was Trinidadian and Chinese.)

He had suffered health issues since 1988, when a near-fatal car accident cost him use of his left arm. He later had strokes in 2009 and 2010 and had to relearn how to walk.

2 Live Crew's 1989 album As Nasty As They Wanna Be was the first album in history to be deemed legally obscene. The ruling was eventually overruled, but in 1990 Fresh Kid Ice and 2 Live Crew leader Luther Campbell were arrested for performing the album live.

Campbell remembered his brother today on Twitter.
