Jay Sean has left Cash Money.
The British singer, who is the best selling urban artist in the history of the UK, announced the split on Friday
"I had and still maintain a great relationship with [Cash Money CEOs] Slim and Baby," Sean told Billboard. "They believed in me and my talent and our partnership obviously garnered a lot of pop success."
He went on to tell Billboard that he wanted to return to his R&B roots.
"It got to the point where I was chasing pop success and 'the smash' when really my heart wasn't in it anymore," he said. "That's not why I got into this game."
Sean will still be releasing his mixtape Mistress II next month. On Friday, he also dropped the video for 'Tears in the Ocean,' which will be on the mixtape.
Jay Sean is the third high profile artist to leave Cash Money this year, following Mystikal and Busta Rhymes. Granted, they might not be so relevant these days, but the label also appears to be on the verge of losing Tyga.
