In March, The Game punched an opposing player (who happened to be an off-duty cop) during a pro-am basketball game.

He turned himself in yesterday on a felony relating to the incident.  But it actually wasn't the sucker punch -- which was recorded on video -- which drew the charge.

Instead, Game was booked for making a criminal threat because he allegedly said "I’m going to kill you" to the cop.

At the time of the incident, the LA emcee contended that the cop threatened to go to his bag and get his gun.

The 35-year old surrendered to the LAPD's Hollywood Division at noon, and then posted the $50,000 bail an hour later.

Neither Game nor his attorneys will comment on the case, but he did post this:
