While we've all been focusing on the Tyga/Drake beef, there may be developments on the Drake/Murda Mook front.
In August, Murda Mook posted a instagram photo of him and Drizzy staring each other down at the club. Apparently Drake challenged Murda to a rap battle even though Mook cut his teeth his teeth in battle rap and is a legendary figure in the genre, whereas Drake came up on a Canadian soap opera.
At the time, this is what Murda said of Drake's challenge:
"Drake is a big battle rap fan. He knows the culture. So him wanting to do it, I don't think it's outrageous. He can rap really well," Mook admitted, clarifying, "I'm not saying he would win. [He'd have to practice] a lifetime, maybe. I don't think there's nobody in this world that can beat me."
Then, earlier this month, Mook had this to say during his turn in the cypher at the BET Hip Hop Awards.
"King of battle rap, comfortable in first place/ Here, finish line is all mine, heard Drake?/ How you flashbackin' to actin', it's real here/ Cripple your career, put it back in a wheelchair/ Get killed here/ Ain't no chill here/ My demeanor/ Don’t play the field here/ De-gras-si, it ain't greener."
Now the folks that AllHipHop are getting word that Drake is preparing to "deal" with Murda Mook.
This has all been a fairly bold gambit by Drake. He's lot more famous than Mook, so he's not doing it for the publicity. And he would certainly be the underdog.
So it seems to us that Drizzy is pretty confident that he can pull off the upset.
What do you think?
