In January, it was reported that the Los Angeles County Probation Department was preparing to recommend Chris Brown go to prison for parole violations, including leaving Los Angeles for San Jose without getting permission.

The judge at that preliminary proceeding also said "there is also concern that when [Brown] performs or attends at some of his public events, people will get shot or seriously injured.”

Brown's fateful probation hearing was today, and TMZ reports that the department has reversed course and has given the judge a glowing report on Breezy's progress.

The probation department also told the judge that they now accept Brown's reasoning for going to San Jose without contacting them first.

Because of their about-face, Brown won't be going to jail.

Good or bad news?
