Ebro in The Morning scored an interview with Bobby Shmurda from jail. But it didn't last long.

The 'Hot Nigga' star was able to stay on the line long enough to tell the Hot 97 crew that he was no longer in Rikers Island, and was now in court ordered protective custody in the Manhattan Detention Complex in Lower Manhattan.

Shmurda also explained that he'd been with his buddy and co-defendant Rowdy Rebel for most of the time since he was locked up, but that Rowdy was recently shipped to the "box" for fighting another prisoner who had been beefing with the two GS9 boys.

The fight didn't appear to have anything to with why the pair were in protective custody, but we never got clarification because about two minutes into the interview the phone went dead. Ebro speculated whatever prison official listening in on the conversation didn't like what they were hearing.

Check the truncated interview.
