Our favorite beef over the last several months has nothing to do with Hip Hop.
In started -- or so we thought -- in November when Michael Jordan insulted Barack Obama's golf game, and then it escalated when the President took a shot at MJ's stewardship of the Charlotte Hornets.
But over the weekend we learned the beef may have gone deeper than that. In a New York mag article on Obama campaign strategist David Axelrod, it was revealed that for the President's 50th birthday in 2011 Axelrod had Jordan sign a poster as a gift.
Jordan addressed the poster "To Barrack: you still owe me dinner. Wishing you well, Michael Jordan."
The misspelling of Obama's name could have been an innocent mistake. But given Jordan's legendary attention to details and his capacity for trash talking, it could also very well be a deliberate reminder that while Obama is the 44th President, 23 is still numero uno.
Last night, Barack Obama did an interview with ESPN radio in which he talked about the late Dean Smith. Michael Jordan's name obviously came up when discussing the legendary North Carolina coach, and when it did Obama took a conciliatory tone concerning their earlier spat. "He talks trash on the golf course, I understand," Obama said, forgiving MJ. "He's a pretty hyper-competitive guy."
